Hi! I’m Bridget and I’m so happy you’re reading my blog! I’m a stay-at-home mom to three girls age eight and under, and each one loves their dad more than the next. They love me, too, but he’s their prince, and I get that, I love that, and I will always treasure the memories of the way the earth just stops, high pitched squeals start, and life begins again when dad walks in the door from work. That is probably the tiniest nutshell of a way that I can describe our family.
I’ve been putting off doing this for quite some time, but unfortunately I’m surrounded by some really wonderful, encouraging people who would let me procrastinate no longer, and so here we go!
What I hope to do here is share the experiences that our family has gone through over the past few years. As with any family, there have been many ups and downs, but our “downs”, it turns out, were pretty much connected to one another and to food, as well. Is that vague enough for you?
I’m going to attempt to accurately relay some of the most difficult times in my life, the times that I’ve shoved to the bottom of my soul, in hopes of helping other people who find themselves or loved ones in deteriorating health. What I do NOT want is to put any negativity or gloom out there, but just share what I’ve learned, the mistakes I’ve made and the remarkable health that I am enjoying for the first time in my entire life.
While I am an open book, one of my daughters is intensely private. I do not think it would be a stretch to say that she is the exact American for whom HIPAA was created, so I will be referring to them by their nicknames to keep the peace, respect her personality, and avoid litigation! My daughters are “Kathleen”, “Belle”, and “Mary”. My husband, Dave, and I decided to do this blog as a way to show how and why we’ve decided to go on a more natural path, a path we did not choose or could ever have anticipated. As my sister so eloquently put it, we fell you-know-what backward into this, but we’re actually having fun with it now.
I am in NO way a medical professional, dietician, or health expert by any stretch of the imagination. I also don’t presume that this way of life is for everyone, but would just like to make the information available to those who are interested in seeing how and why I do what I do. I am just a mom who is passionate about finding heathy, easy alternatives to the options currently provided by our culture in respect to food, household supplies and beauty products.
As I won’t be showing pictures of my girls, I thought that the next best thing would be to show their shoes, because, let’s face it, you can tell a lot about a woman by her shoes! I asked them each to go grab a pair and lay them out for me. Here’s what I got:
